| About Us |
 |
| |
| It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction for
all members of ASIA–Ahmedabad South Indian Association–that
ASIA Charitable Trust has completed 40 years of service. |
| |
| It has been a long journey, quite testing and arduous,
yet successful and satisfying. ASIA has been able to achieve its objective
of serving society in a larger perspective. Though |
| |
| constitutionally it continues to be a body in a regionally
restricted sense, during the last 40 years, it has enveloped and impacted
a wide cross-section of the society, creating a powerful niche in
a mega-city of over 50 lakh people. From incognito, ASIA has emerged
as a popular progressive institution without any specific regional
identity. It indeed is a great achievement and I am proud of it. |
| |
| ASIA Charitable Trust (ACT) is the right arm of ASIA,
which has brought honours by realizing dreams and ambitions of ASIA.
ACT chose the path of education to serve the members of the South
Indian Community and to realise this objective, it started a primary
school in 1965. The school carried in for a long time facing problems
of inadequate resources required for sound progress. That was the
state of affairs when I stepped in as Chairman of ASIA Charitable
Trust in the year 1994. |
| |
| I realized the urgent need to inject adequate financial
resources to make the school self sufficient and save it from the
clutches of legal problems which were threatening its very existence.
I did not lose time tin fulfilling this need by mobilizing monetary
and social support. |
| |
| A shopping complex was under construction on the road
in front of the school building, completely blocking the view of the
school from outside. Ultimately with great efforts, ASIA Charitable
Trust purchased that plot and a new building was constructed on it.
Having gained self-sufficiency in the next two years, and building
confidence among the members and the school, it was time to move forward
on a growth path. Since then, there has not been any looking back.
It has been a steady march forward, with the institution growing from
strength to strength. |
| |
| The first step was to upgrade the educational facilities
by creation physical infrastructure of new buildings, classrooms and
a campus at pat with the facilities in the best-known schools of Ahmedabad.
The school acquired a respectable and important identity as ‘ASIA
English School’ and the campus on Drive-in Road became a landmark.
Conscious efforts were made to bring in quality teachers and improve
educational standards, which were reflected in excellent results in
the Gujarat Board examinations. The hard-core performance won popularity
for the school and, of course, admissions. Today, the school has on
its rolls over 3500 students from Nursery to Higher Secondary classes
covering science and general streams in English medium. Now, it is
rated as one of the most prestigious English medium schools of the
State. |
